My name is Mark Dickson, I was born and raised in South Central Kentucky. I live in Glasgow, Barren County area with my wife Amy and son Spencer. I have been an avid hunter and fisherman since I was a child. My dad and I would go fishing on Saturdays and every day during the week of spring break. He taught me pretty much everything I know about the outdoors. I got connected with the USSA about 12 years ago when Brigid contacted us asking if Spencer would like to go on a hunting trip through the USSA. Spencer has cystic fibrosis and also loves to hunt and fish.
I was so amazed by all the kindness Brigid and all the volunteers had to offer and I felt led to do a weekend fishing event for critically ill children in my hometown. My family and I were so blessed to give back to an organization that has brought my family so many wonderful memories. While we have only hosted one event so far, it is going to be an annual one.
Even though my son was diagnosed with a life-threatening disease, he has been so blessed to be able to go on several hunts through the USSA and has loved every minute of it and so have we! As the USSA state representative for Kentucky, I look for forward to helping make children’s dreams and wishes come true.
